How do you play After Dark Questions?

After Dark Questions are explicit prompts designed for late at night — short enough to say in the dark, needing no screen after the first read. Partners take turns and both answer, with five or six questions making a session. The setting itself does much of the work: darkness and no eye contact make honest answers easier.

How to play

  1. Lights off or right down. Read a few early and put the phone away.
  2. Take turns. Both answer everything.
  3. Do not sit up, do not turn a light on, do not check anything.
  4. Five or six is a session. This is not a deck to finish.
  5. Skip anything freely — a pass is a complete answer.

Why couples love this game

The setting is doing half the work. The same questions asked over lunch would get careful answers; asked in the dark, at midnight, with no eye contact and nowhere to be, they get honest ones. It is the single easiest environment for saying a difficult sentence.

There is a specific hour — late, dark, both of you already in bed and not quite asleep — where things get said that would not survive daylight. Everyone knows this and almost nobody uses it deliberately.

This deck does. The questions are explicit and the format is built for the setting: short enough to say in the dark, no screen needed after the first read, and nothing that requires anyone to sit up.

It is 🌶️ and it is meant for couples who already talk easily. If this conversation is new, Intimate Questions is the gentler door.

Example questions

  • What have you been thinking about doing to my body that you have not said?
  • If I reached for you right now, where would you want my mouth first?
  • When you were alone this week, what did you picture us doing?
  • What is the sexiest thing I did this week without meaning to?
  • If nothing was off the table for the next twenty minutes, what would you want?
  • Do you want my hands under the covers, or do you want the covers off?

The full game has 40 of these, shuffled every time you play.

Who this game is best for

  • Late at night, already in bed
  • Established couples who talk easily
  • Long-distance calls at the end of the day
  • Anyone who finds this easier without eye contact

Tips to make it better

  • Phone away after the first few. The glow is the enemy here.
  • Five or six questions. Working through twenty at 1am turns it into an activity.
  • Do not turn an answer into a plan immediately. Let it be said first.
  • Pillow Talk is the 🔥 version if tonight does not want explicit.

Frequently asked questions

Why do these work better at night?

No eye contact, no daylight, and nowhere to be. It is the one time of day when a difficult sentence is genuinely easier to start, which is why so much gets said at 1am that would not get said at lunch.

How explicit is this?

It is 🌶️ and does not hedge. Pillow Talk is the 🔥 version — intimate rather than explicit.

Does it work long distance?

Very well. Nothing here is physical, and a late call in the dark reproduces most of the conditions that make it work.
