How do you play The Wedding Shoe Game?
The wedding shoe game is played by the couple sitting back to back, each holding one of their own shoes and one of their partner's, then raising the shoe that answers each question. Because they cannot see each other, nobody can hedge — and the mismatches are what the audience is there for. Twenty questions is the right length.
How to play
- Sit back to back on two chairs, in the middle of the room.
- Each of you holds one of your own shoes and one of your partner's.
- Someone reads a question. You both raise the shoe of whoever the answer is.
- Everyone watching sees whether you matched. You do not.
- Keep going for twenty questions or until somebody's answer causes an incident.
Why couples love this game
It is the only wedding game where the couple cannot see each other, so nobody can hedge. The mismatches are the entire event — and "who does more around the house" has ended more receptions in delighted uproar than any speech.
