How do you play Yes / No / Maybe List?
A yes/no/maybe list has both partners privately rate the same items, revealing nothing until the end and then comparing only where both scored highly. Neither person has to name something first. A low score is treated as a complete answer requiring no explanation and no negotiation.
How to play
- Score every item one to ten, privately. Do not talk while scoring.
- Do not look at each other's screens. That is the entire mechanism.
- Reveal everything at once at the end.
- Look only at where you both scored seven or above.
- Anything either of you scored low is closed. No discussion, no persuading.
Why couples love this game
It removes the going-first problem completely. The reason this conversation does not happen is that naming something means watching a reaction β and scoring privately means that by the time anything is visible, you have both already answered and nobody exposed themselves alone.
A yes/no/maybe list is the standard tool for this conversation because it solves the actual problem: nobody wants to be the first person to name something and then watch the other person react.
Here you both score every item privately from one to ten. Nothing is revealed until the end, and then only the comparison. Neither of you goes first, because you went at the same time.
The rule that makes it safe is that a low score is a complete answer. No justification, no negotiation, no "but why not".
Example things you rate
- Oral β giving, slowly, until they say stop
- Oral β receiving, with your hands in their hair
- You on top, setting the pace
- Them on top, you watching
- Sex from behind
- Against a wall, a counter, or the shower
The full game has 40 of these, shuffled every time you play.
Who this game is best for
- Established couples with real trust
- Anyone who has wanted to have this conversation and could not start it
- Long-distance couples β nothing here requires being together
- A private evening with time to talk afterwards
Tips to make it better
- Score honestly, not diplomatically. Scoring what you think they want defeats the whole thing.
- A low score is final and needs no reason. Pressing on one is the fastest way to make sure nobody is honest next time.
- A high score is interest, not a plan. Talk before assuming.
- Redo it in a year. These answers move.
Frequently asked questions
What is a yes no maybe list?
A structured way for couples to compare what they are and are not interested in, by scoring the same list privately and then looking only at the overlap. It removes the need for anyone to raise something first.
What if we disagree on something?
Then it is closed. A low score is a complete answer and does not need a reason β and pressing on one guarantees nobody scores honestly next time.
Is this private?
Yes. No accounts, nothing stored on a server, nothing sent anywhere. What you score stays on your device.
