How do you play Guess My Answer?
Guess My Answer is a couples game where one partner predicts how the other would answer an open, opinion-based question — then hears the real answer. Because the questions have no factual answer, scoring well requires understanding how your partner thinks rather than memorising facts about them.
How to play
- One of you reads the question and gives their guess out loud, in full.
- The other answers properly. No editing to make the guess look better.
- Score it — right, close, or nowhere near.
- Swap every question.
- Follow up on the ones where the gap was large. That is the game.
Why couples love this game
Fact quizzes reward memory. This one rewards attention, which is a much better measure and considerably harder to fake. Almost every couple finds two or three answers that reframe something they thought they understood.
Most partner quizzes test facts. This one tests judgement: the questions are open and opinion-based, so getting them right means you actually understand how your partner thinks rather than having memorised their coffee order.
You write down or say your guess first, then they answer properly. The gap between the two is the interesting bit, and it is usually larger than either of you expects.

- Guess in full sentences. A vague guess is impossible to score.
- Do not adjust your real answer to be closer to their guess. It is very tempting.
- The wrong ones are the game. Spend the time there.
- Allow "close" as a score here — unlike the fact quizzes, opinions have shades.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from a normal partner quiz?
Normal quizzes ask facts you could memorise. These questions have no factual answer, so you are predicting judgement rather than recalling data. Long-term couples find it substantially harder.
Should we allow "close" as an answer?
Here, yes. Opinions have shades in a way that a coffee order does not, so a three-point scale works better than right or wrong.
What if the guesses are all wrong?
That is a good evening, not a bad one. Every large gap is a conversation you would not otherwise have had.
