How do you play Fantasy Questions?
Fantasy questions for couples work best under an explicit rule agreed in advance: describing a fantasy commits you to nothing. That removes the real obstacle, which is rarely embarrassment about content and usually the fear that naming something turns it into a proposal. Both partners answer, and six questions is a session.
How to play
- Agree the rule out loud first: saying it is not agreeing to it.
- Both answer everything, or neither does.
- No reacting with a plan. Describe, ask one question, move on.
- Skip anything freely. A pass means nothing.
- Six is a session. Do not treat this as a list to get through.
Why couples love this game
The rule is the entire product. Almost every couple who avoids this conversation is avoiding the consequences of it rather than the content β and explicitly agreeing that nothing said becomes a commitment removes the only real obstacle in about four seconds.
The reason couples do not discuss fantasies is not embarrassment about the content. It is the fear that naming something turns it into a proposal, and then a scheduling problem, and then a thing you have to have an opinion about.
The rule here removes that: saying it is not agreeing to it. Everything on this deck can be described, enjoyed as a conversation, and left entirely alone afterwards.
That is what makes the honest answers possible, and it is also why couples who play it report the conversation being far better than the list.
Example questions
- Describe a fantasy about us you have never said β setting, clothes, who starts it.
- What is the oldest sexual fantasy you still come back to?
- Is there a version of us as strangers β hotel bar, late flight, you do not know my name?
- Where have you imagined us having sex that we never have β balcony, car, beach, locked office?
- What is something you would want to watch me do, rather than do yourself?
- In the ones you think about, am I in a dress, nothing, your shirt, something else?
The full game has 39 of these, shuffled every time you play.
Who this game is best for
- Established couples with genuine trust
- Anyone who has wanted to have this conversation and stalled
- Long-distance couples β it is entirely verbal
- A private evening with time afterwards
Tips to make it better
- Say the rule out loud before card one. Assuming it is not the same as agreeing it.
- Do not immediately start planning. That is exactly the reaction the rule exists to prevent.
- Both answer. One-sided disclosure here is exposure, not intimacy.
- Yes / No / Maybe List is the deck for turning any of it into an actual conversation about doing it.
Frequently asked questions
How do you tell your partner about a fantasy?
Agree first that saying it is not agreeing to it. Almost everyone who stalls on this conversation is worried about the consequences of naming something rather than the naming itself.
What if I do not actually want to do it?
That is extremely common and one of the questions asks about it directly. Liking the idea of something and wanting it to happen are genuinely different, and saying so is useful information.
What if my partner reacts badly?
Then stop, and note that the rule was agreed and not kept. Both people answering is what makes it safe β one-sided disclosure is exposure rather than intimacy.
